On a train…..

by Ayaan, 10, Australia

Faster than a speeding car,

Cooler than a shooting star.

Platform greeted by this shiny train,

Coming so fast like it’s headed to Spain!

As I step in to explore the wagon,

It’s like a giant slumbering dragon.

The tail so long with lots of bends.

It is hard to imagine where it ends.

As feet march in, the dragon is up and live,

Sounding as if it is about to fly or dive.

I find my seat next to the window,

With a glorious view that I am sure will grow

A far-off whistle blows and off we go!

To where, that I don’t know.

I stare in dismay at all the sights,

Objects go wheeling past as blurry lights.

We soon enter the outback,

And the desert merges with the track.

I get a dusty vision and try to blink my eyes,

But the sprinkle is too vast, like stars in skies.

A tap on the shoulder by my sister

Says you ought to be studying mister!

I wonder about my journey and all that I got,

A reminder to snap out of my train of thought!

Different People

By Aashi, 7, Australia

In the world there are different beings,

each unique doing their things.

Let’s respect them all,

as together we stand tall.

Anta is a girl who loves to cook,

Anta’s pasta like a recipe in the book.

Sure, her favourite thing to cook is pasta,

she is a very good pasta master.

Bob loves high jump,

he jumps like a big lump.

He wins prizes that make him proud,

he gets high fives from the crowd.

Clara loves to sing,

she sing like she has wings.

If you hear her voice that’d be a treat,

oh, she has a wonderful beat.

Anta, Bob, Clara and many others,

each with different feathers.

World is beautiful

because we are so plentiful!
