Haiku Poems

Haiku poems have three lines. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third line has 5 syllables. Examples below:

Diamante Poems

A diamante is an unrhymed seven- line poem. The beginning and ending lines are the shortest, while the lines in the middle are longer, giving diamante poems a diamond 💎  shape. Examples below:

Shape Poems

A shape poem is a poem shaped like the thing it describes. The shape helps you understand what the poem is describing, or what it is about. Example below:



Limericks

A limerick is a humourous poem consisting of five lines. The first, second and fifth lines must have seven to ten syllables while rhyming and having the same verbal rhythm. Example below:

There was a disgusting rat called splat,

He absolutely hated black cats,

He loved chasing beetles,

But got poked by a needle,

And died on a big black mat.

Rhyming Couplet Poems

A couplet is a poem that only consists of two lines. The end of the two lines must rhyme.
